The Universal Orlando Resort offers some of the most immersive and exciting theme park experiences in the world. You don't have to visit the theme parks with a large group to have a good time, though. Visiting the parks solo offers its own unique perks, and may be a nice way to relax and let the world melt away. Here are some tips for getting the most out of solo traveling in Universal Orlando.
Take Your Time
One of the greatest benefits of visiting the parks by yourself is not having to worry about what other people want to do. Without having to come to a group consensus or compromise, this visit is all about you and your personal taste. If you're a thrill-seeker, you can spend all day riding roller coasters. If you're a film buff, you can check out the movie-based rides and shows. The day is yours, and yours alone, so take full advantage of it. Plus, take a moment to appreciate all the little details that go into the parks, like background music or other often overlooked elements. Don't be afraid to stop and smell the roses.
Single Rider Lines
Of course the single rider lines offered at many of the rides in both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure are one of the greatest advantages of traveling by yourself. You can save a tremendous amount of time waiting by skipping the regular queue this way. Some of the rides have really awesome pre-shows and queue elements that you may miss in the single rider line, so it's always a good idea to wait in standby at least once in your life – but after that, the single rider line is your ticket to re-ride the rides as much as you want!
Try New Things
If you've visited the theme parks before, this may be the perfect time to try something new. Pick a ride or show you've never done before. Check out some of the kiddie rides you may have skipped on previous trips, or one the scarier ones you haven't yet worked up the nerve to attempt. Pick a snack stand at random and try a food or dessert you've never had before. The world is your oyster, and without anyone else to make decisions with you, it can be fun to challenge yourself to try new things or step out of your comfort zone. Who knows, you may find a hidden gem, or your new park favorite!
Dining Made Easy
Another perk of being a party of one is that it can be a lot easier to find a table for lunch or dinner, even at the busiest of restaurants. It can sometimes be difficult to get a same-day reservation at dining locations like Mythos at Islands of Adventure or Finnegan's at Universal Studios Florida, but there's almost always a table for one available for walk-ups! Quick service locations like the Leaky Cauldron in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter are great, too, as they offer communal shared seating areas. That way you don't have to feel like you're eating alone.
Meet Some New Friends
When traversing the parks by yourself, you may notice just how friendly everyone else at the parks can be. Don't be afraid to make small chit chat with other guests while waiting in lines for attractions. Choose the group tables at quick-service restaurants to open the door to meal-time banter, and take some time to get your photo taken with some of the meet & greet characters around the parks. You'll never feel alone when surrounded by so many friendly people who, just like you, are all here to have a good time at the parks.
